Why should I use an agency?
The fact is seeking out and negotiating an appearance with a speaker can be fraught with any number of costly and time-consuming mistakes. We hear from producers all the time who have entered into arrangements with the wrong speaker, paid far too much for a speaker or failed to protect themselves properly when entering into an agreement with a speaker.
A good agent can help you to navigate all of the many factors. They should be a trusted advisor and diligent confidant who will be there from the very first phone call until the final curtain call.
Why should I use YOUR agency?
We’re a small agency with big ideals. We’re committed to the highest possible level of customer service. If you’ve worked with other agencies you already know that too often you’re made to feel like a commodity…”just another booking.” What we’re doing at the The Tuesday Agency is something very different. We’re genuinely interested in helping you to create the very best event possible. You’ll work with the same agent from the booking process, to the planning process and through to the end of your event. You will never be shuffled from one representative to another. And every phone call and e-mail is answered promptly. We have fifteen years of experience in every aspect of event planning and production. Call us today to put our experience and commitment to work for you.
Using an agency costs me more, right?
No. In fact using an agency saves you money. We are paid a commission that has already been prearranged with the speaker. Because of our experience and knowledge we’re able to get you the very best price on a given speaker because we understand their requirements and your parameters.
I don’t see the speaker I’m looking for here. Can you get him / her for me?
Yes. We maintain relationships with publishers, authors, agents, producers and other professionals around the world. There is no one we can’t book for you.
The speakers you see on this website are all represented exclusively by The Tuesday Agency.
What do you mean when you say you represent these speakers “exclusively?”
Many speakers don’t have a primary relationship with any one agency. If you look around the internet you will find that many speakers are listed on multiple agencies websites. These speakers are “non-exclusive” speakers. Essentially, anyone can call them up and book them.
The speakers you find on this website you won’t find anywhere else. We represent them “exclusively.” These speakers are our friends and we know their work, their requirements and their abilities. We give you our word that they are exceptional public speakers. And every date that is booked for these speakers is managed by The Tuesday Agency.
So, what does it cost to hire a speaker?
To hire a speaker represented by a professional agency the fee can range anywhere from $3,000 up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. On average a great number of speakers fall somewhere between $7,500 and $25,000. You must keep in mind though that there are also ancillary costs…airfare, hotel, meals and ground transportation for example.
Why should I pay someone to speak?
Do you pay to go to a concert? A baseball game? There is an inherent value in knowledge and in the time and energy a speaker exerts to come to your town and share that knowledge.
But we’re selling the speaker’s books, aren’t they making money that way?
Sometimes but sometimes not, book deals are all very different. Many authors are paid strictly a flat fee for a book and therefore see no additional monies from books sold. Authors who do receive monies per book sold often times only receive cents on the dollar. So, if you sell 100 books at your event and an author gets twenty-five cents per book that means they get just $25 for all their effort!
